Our parent companies – White Mountains Insurance Group and White Mountains Re – have the capital strength necessary to succeed in this business and are internationally known leaders in the industry with a history of successfully completing many insurance and reinsurance company acquisitions.
Prior Acquisitions
Since our formation in 2001 White Mountains Re Solutions has closed five acquisitions:
- C-F Insurance Company (2001)
- A California domiciled runoff insurance company purchased from the California Farm Bureau Federation and Conservation & Liquidation Office of the California Insurance Department.
- Imperial Casualty and Indemnity Company (2002)
- A Nebraska domiciled runoff insurance company purchased from British Petroleum Company North America.
- Sierra Insurance Group Companies (2004)
- Four workers' compensation companies purchased from Nevada based Sierra Health Services, Inc.
- Tryg-Baltica Forsikring International (2004)
- A Danish reinsurance company purchased from Tryg Vesta Group of Denmark.
- Mutual Service Casualty Insurance Company (2006)
- A Minnesota domiciled mutual insurer which we converted to a stock company and then purchased. After closing we renamed Mutual Service Casualty Insurance Company to Stockbridge Insurance Company.
We have also sold four statutory risk bearing companies we had previously acquired:
- Imperial Casualty and Indemnity (2003)
- A Nebraska domiciled company licensed in 41 states and the District of Columbia was sold to a Texas based investment group.
- California Indemnity Insurance Company (2005)
- A California domiciled company licensed in 29 states and the District of Columbia was sold to a Texas based investment group.
- Stockbridge Insurance Company (2007)
- A Minnesota domiciled company licensed in 46 states and the District of Columbia was sold to a Bermuda based insurance group.
- Commerce Casualty Insurance Company (2008)
- A California domiciled company licensed in 34 states and the District of Columbia.
